On November 17, 2005 the Chapter's community service
project helped IHS-Family Center serve lunches to the
homeless families. Volunteers were Janice Nakamura (Ceridian), Alan
Spitzer (Ceridian), Lloyd Kurashige (Servco Pacific), Marcus Bozeman (IHS),
Maka Kekahuna (Catholic Charities), Ann Yoshioka (QLCC), and Linda
Fujinaga (QLCC). Everyone was "smartly" dressed in aprons, cafeteria
hats, and gloves. We all agreed that spending our lunch hour was
rewarding and we'd gladly do it again.
Ann & Janice serves healthy & appetizing lunches at the
IHS-Family Center.
Your donations of toiletries (soaps, shampoos, hand
lotion, etc) were donated to the homeless shelter. It is through all our
kokua that we make a difference in our communities. Mahalo for your

Our Chapter's first community service project was a
visit to Lunalilo Home (a "senior" home/care facility) on
Saturday, October 29, 2005. The visit began with a Hawaiian chant and
Hula from Peggy Maxwell-Luke's daughter (and her a friend). Musicians
Kalono Kaumeheiwa (Stephanie's husband) and friend, Lono entertained and
helped us sing Tiny Bubbles and Pearly Shells to the seniors. It was a
heartfelt joy watching their faces "light-up" as they sang along with
us. The residents received a Halloween "goody-bag" made from member's
donations. |
