| From Wally Kam:
The APA’s Annual National Congress in 2005 at San Diego was my third
event over a period of six years. My first was at the Anaheim Convention
Center, next door to Disneyland, the second was in Las Vegas at the
Paris and Bally’s Hotels. All of the events were eye-opening in that
they were presented on a large scale (over 2,000 attendees at each
event) and there were lots of classes offered involving a wide array of
payroll issues. In addition, many top level representatives of national
government agencies that directly impact payroll, such as SSA and the
IRS, were present to discuss current updates.
Complementing
each Congress were large vendors exhibition areas where payroll services
companies were represented to demonstrate their products and answer
questions. There were many state-of–the-art products to be informed
about.
Other than classes and products
demonstrations, there was entertainment and many inspirational speakers.
Last year’s featured speaker was ‘The Fonz’ (Henry Winkler) of the Happy
Days television show. There was also a fun evening at Dave and Busters
in San Diego.
Learning about payroll rules,
regulations, current issues and future issues is a constant process. The
APA National Congress offers many educational opportunities for
attendees to keep informed. Many speakers are those with hands on
experience in the business and are willing to share their knowledge
which translates to attendees being better educated. |
